Not only do I love my country, but I love the people in it. After everything that happened yesterday in Boston, it’s amazing to see just how much strangers are willing to step up and make a difference. I love you all.

I’m literally in tears right now. I’m lucky, all of my friends have been confirmed safe, but not everyone can say the same. I wonder why someone would do this on such an amazing day. Why? People have often worked their entire lives for this day. To most runners, it’s the best and most important day of their running careers and something they’ve dreamed about since they were children. Why would someone want to taint that? What good comes of it?

Well one thing is for sure, the running community has always been one that has been like a family, not only to me, but to each other and everyone. We will stand strong and we will fight. We will not be tossed to the ground like trash. The person in charge of today’s happenings will pay the price and he or she will pay harshly. And this will only work to bring the running community even closer together and make us better and stronger. But the cost is too great, lives lost are too many, and too much pain suffered.

To all of you runners, families, friends, acquaintances, I will keep you in my thoughts. Give your families a hug and be thankful that you get to see them again.

People run marathons for the simplest and purest reasons. Nobody runs a marathon to get rich or laid or to crush the competition. People run marathons to explore the horizons of themselves. It is a contest with your own will. Marathon a trial and a crucible that everyone that has ever run one has learned from.

Hey folks!

So as some of you know, I’ve recently decided to take on the role of Race Director within a company I’ve started with a friend. If not, well now you do :) Anyways, I’ve had a lot of exciting things come to attention as a result of that race company.

For instance, last week I was interviewed by Run Barefoot Girl, Caity McCardell, herself! AHHH! As a fellow barefoot runner, this was such a pleasure for me. I really never thought I’d get the chance to talk to someone like Caity. And honestly, she’s one of those people that you talk to one time and feel like you’ll be friends forever. Thank you, Caity, I really appreciate the chance to chat. Now I can’t wait to post the podcast here when it’s ready :)

I’ve also recently had someone ask me about writing a post as a guest on their blog. Who can say no to that?! So hopefully I’ll get that done this week. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to post it here as well!

Beyond that, I’ve been super busy with race stuff, getting the course exact, working to get sponsors, trying to get medals/tshirts/signs, things like that all done. Honestly, I love it. I love every bit of it. Ok, that’s a lie, I don’t particularly like everything that needs done once the race is over, but I do it because I love the task as a whole. And really, it’s not a task. A task is an annoying thing you throw on your to-do list and try to avoid for as long as possible. This definitely isn’t that. Shame on me!

In less interesting news, I’m pretty excited that I’m going to look at a house this week. EEEK! It’s a small 2 bedroom house with a multi car garage and a fenced in yard, perfect for the pups. Now, it’s nothing huge or grand in any way, but it could be perfect for the pups and I :) I’m seeing that tomorrow… Hope it’s as cute in person as it was online and from what the realtor has lead me to believe. We’ll see…

Oh yeah, I’ve also stepped on board to help a fellow runner edit his book. Jason Robillard is getting ready to publish his second book, this one all about ultra running, and has asked a few people to edit. Yep, I jumped on that faster than a 16 year old boy seeing a naked girl for the first time. Bad joke? Yeah, I don’t really care…

Maybe once it’s finished, I’ll post a copy of it online (yes, I’m allowed) and you’ll all be able to check it out for yourselves. Maybe…

Ahh, now I’m off to go talk race stuff with Matt. Best wishes for the week :)

Um…. so we went out to Caesars Creek to run my race path (18 miles) today. Needless to say, we had some fun. But the day ended with us in the back of a squad car. Now we’re home safe and warm (and showered)!
